The Health Benefits of Manuka Honey – An article by Dharam Deep Singh, CMT
Have you ever had a wound that just wouldn’t heal? An infection that your doctor told you to take antibiotics for, but weren’t quite sure it would work? Maybe your doctor told you to “just to keep it clean and wait it out?” Well, there is a cure that I found about right about the time I started doing Kundalini Yoga called Manuka Honey.
A friend of mine came to me for advice on wounds that weren’t healing well and I told her about the health benefits of Manuka honey. She left me this recommendation on my LinkedIn profile recently: “A little over a year ago, I had surgery, and there were complications in the healing process. My stitches had torn and gotten infected, and my doctor told me to just “keep it clean and wait”. Well, weeks went by, and I was in pain, missing work, and tired of “waiting” around to heal and get well. That’s when Dharam Deep came around and gave me health advice. He told me to try Manuka Honey on my surgical wound. I was skeptical at first, but was desperate to heal. That night, I bought Manuka Honey. The moment I applied it to my infected wound, it soothed the pain instantly. In a matter of days, my infection went away, and the wound was finally healing.
A week later, I went back to see my doctor, and he was in awe at how fast I healed. Thanks to Dharam Deep (not my doctor); I was able to get well! I will always appreciate & be thankful to Dharam Deep for helping me during one of the hardest points of my life!” I am humbled by my friend’s sincere words and glad that I was able to pass on the knowledge of this powerful healing food that not only heals wounds, but tastes great on toast and in Yogi Tea! I must warn, however, this particular brand of honey has a strong bite to it. If you eat it raw or on toast, it will give you a huge boost of energy lasting hours. I wouldn’t recommend eating it at night.
A good Kundalini Yoga mantra song to play at the time of application is “Ra Ma Da Sa” by Snatam Kaur on her album “Grace.” “Ra Ma Da Sa” is a powerful healing mantra. Gurunam Singh Levry says, “Ra Ma Da Sa is like a rare diamond, which connects you to the pure healing energy of the universe.”
Apply the Manuka Honey with a spoon or carrier of your choice and place a bandage over the wound. Keep it on as long as possible and re-apply as necessary until your wounds or scars have healed. Put “Ra Ma Da Sa” on repeat. In addition to playing “Ra Ma Da Sa”, many great videos of the master of Kundalini Yoga, Yogi Bhajan, can be found on YouTube or YogiBhajan.com courtesy of the Kundalini Research Institute. I have found listening to Yogi Bhajan helped me through my own healing when I had a staph infection on my thigh. Utilizing Manuka Honey together with Yogi Bhajan’s teachings is very powerful.
If you are in the mood for something a little bit more upbeat, try “In the Light of My Soul” on Kundalini Remixed with DJ Sharu and Eugene Steele’s remix of GuruGanesha with Snatam Kaur. This remix is sure to inspire the light of your soul to shine. Although the health benefits of Manuka honey have been around for many generations, always consult with your doctor, physician, or health provider first before trying out any new health regimen. As always, we recommend you find a doctor that understands nutrition and whole food based health. You may be surprised at how little training most doctors get in this area.
